The 100 children that attend summer camp are able to continue their education year round and have fun learning.  One way is to continue to learn through reading and writing with volunteers that sign up daily to spend time at the center.

Bethlehem Center also partners with Camp Tekoa, Mount Shepherd, Gwynn Valley residence camps.  With the large support we receive through the United Methodist Women, we were able to send 125 students to these camps in 2007.

Karie Barbieri, Director of Missions and Education, believes that, “summer day camp helps build character and re-enforces education learned throughout the year.  This is very important to a child who may not otherwise have day to day structure in their life with a safe place to learn and play.”

Camper bags are currently needed as well as funding to help send kids to camp.  On average the cost to send a child to summer camp for a week is $217.00.  All donations are welcome!

Around the World, an organization the specializes in helping educate children about different countries and cultures, visited Bethlehem Center this summer.  The children of Camp Candyland, learned about the American Indians, Mexico and India.  They dressed up in costumes, and learned various cultural activities which the people of these countries rely on to live.  Fun was had by all.  Here are some pictures from daily events.
