Carolina
Challenge
Dancing to inspire, nurture and strengthen Charlotte’s youth.
What is the Carolina
Challenge?
The Carolina Challenge is a 12-hour dance event that gives all Charlotte
area residents the opportunity to inspire, nurture and strengthen tomorrow’s
youth.
The goal of the
Carolina Challenge is for members of the Charlotte community to raise funds
and awareness in support of the children of the Bethlehem Center. Following
this fundraising drive, the 12-hour dance event is an opportunity to
challenge yourself by dancing for the duration of the event. This event
also offers the opportunity to interact directly with the children your
fundraising will benefit.
What is the Bethlehem
Center?
The center was started in 1940 and has been a part of the Charlotte
community ever since, continuing to serve and make a difference in the lives
of children and developing youths who need additional support. The center’s
programs include:
-
School Age
Development
which provides after school enrichment and summer day camp activities
for children through the 6th grade
-
Teen Programs
including Girl Power and Stepping into Manhood which are
available for youths older than the 6th grade
-
Community Outreach
provides
community members with materials that help to meet their physical,
spiritual, emotional and material needs. These projects include:
-
Social Services
that focus on preventing alcohol and drug abuse as well as gang
prevention. These programs assist and protect needy children and adults
with the goal of preserving and strengthening their families
Why the Bethlehem
Center
The mission of the Bethlehem Center is to renew hope, strengthen family life
and promote self sufficiency. Through its various programs and the work of
dedicated staff and volunteers, the Bethlehem Center positively impacts the
lives of Charlotte’s children, striving to develop them in to strong
citizens and promote family values within the Charlotte community.
In order for the center
to make the greatest impact, however, it needs the support of the entire
Charlotte community. By participating in the Carolina Challenge, you can
make a direct impact on a child TODAY and help to preserve the future of
Charlotte’s youth for TOMORROW.
Why the Carolina
Challenge?
A 12-hour dance event is a difficult task to undertake, but by challenging
ourselves in this way, we are inspiring the children of the Bethlehem
Center to accomplish things that they never felt were possible.
Through the programs
that are funded by the event, these same children will be nurtured,
kept off the streets and given additional opportunities to learn and develop
that would not be available to them otherwise.
Through your
inspiration and the nurturing of the Bethlehem Center the Carolina Challenge
will help to strengthen Charlotte’s youth.
