Bethlehem Center of Charlotte to hold First Annual Carolina Challenge Dance Marathon
Charlotte, N.C. (Monday, August 18, 2008)- The Bethlehem Center in partnership with 96.1 The Beat and 106.5 The End is sponsoring the Carolina Challenge on September 6th at First Ward Recreation Center. The Carolina Challenge is a 12-hour dance and social event that allows all Charlotte area residents the opportunity to inspire, nurture and strengthen tomorrow’s youth. The goal of the Carolina Challenge is for members of the community to raise funds and awareness in support of children and families of Bethlehem Center. Following this fundraising drive, the 12-hour dance event gives participants an opportunity to challenge themselves by dancing for the duration of the event. This event also offers the opportunity to interact directly with the children benefiting from the funds raised.
There are three main ways members of the Charlotte community can participate. As an individual or group, each participant is asked to raise $100 in tax deductible donations either by themselves, with a team, or through the letter writing campaign. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and committee members are also still needed to help plan this 1st time event.
Anyone interested in participating as a Challenger, sponsor, or committee member can visit the website: www.bethlehemcenter.org/challenge.htm or contact Amy Hutchison at 704-371-7404.
The Bethlehem Center was founded in 1940 and has been a part of the Charlotte community ever since, continuing to serve and make a difference in the lives of children and developing youths who need additional support. The center’s programs include School Age Development, Teen Programs, Community Outreach, and Social Services. Information is available through www.bethlehemcenter.org.
